Moon Lovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo is based on Chinese novel "Bu Bu Jing Xin". The plot of Korean is similar to Chinese version. Both versions are related to their own history. I watched both Chinese and Korean version. Bu Bu Jing Xin was aired in year 2011 and Bu Bu Jing Qing was aired in year 2014. Although Bu Bu Jing Qing is the second season but the story was written by different author. Many people complaint that the second episode was not good even the male and female lead are same as the first season. The second season does not related to the first season much but it has happy ending. For me, Bu Bu Jing Qing is not really the second season but the story is still ok. I enjoyed watching it.

Hae-Soo travels back Goryeo era and meets the princes.
There are many princes so it is hard to remember the name of princes since the beginning so I memorize the number instead i.e. 3rd prince, 4th prince. This series has only 20 episodes while Bu Bu Jing Xin has 35 episodes so the story goes fast. In my opinion 20 episodes are too short, should have more than 30 episodes. Moon Lovers in this version is not bad. Acting of actors and actress, scenery, OST are good but the problem is transition of some episodes are not smooth. I heard that Moon Lover aired in Korea and China has some differences.
IU as Go Ha-jin and Hae-soo. Her acting is better than her previous drama. She has bright characteristic and has good chemistry with Lee Joon-gi. In this drama, she was surrounded by many princes so many viewers envy her.
This drama got low rating in Korea but not in China. I think one reason is air time which is same as Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. Please ignore about the rating. This drama can make you happy, sad and cry even has sad ending. In fact, I wish that there will be extra or special episode but there are not.
